Star Trek Games at E3
Date: May 3rd
A visually stunning first-person shooter, Star Trek: Voyager Hazard Team is the first game to be based
on the television series, Star Trek: Voyager. The title features realistic environments, fluid animations,
ultra-fast action, astonishing special effects and cooperative and deathmatch modes. Additionally, the
game will introduce players to new characters and experiences in the popular universe.
The first space-based real-time strategy game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe, Star
Trek Armada lets players command Federation, Romulan, Klingon and Borg fleets as a massive Borg
invasion unfolds. Players assume command of up to 30 starships, space stations and repair facilities
and play all four fleets in order to complete the single-player campaign. Players must navigate around
wormholes, asteroids and nebulae as they engage in the ultimate showdown.
At the Electronics Entertainment Expo, Activision will boldly go where no other interactive entertainment
company has gone before when the company unveils Star Trek: Voyager Hazard Team, the first game
set in the Star Trek: Voyager universe, Star Trek Armada, the first space-based real-time strategy
game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe and Star Trek Insurrection, the
action-adventure game based on the 1998 feature film from Paramount Pictures. The three PC games
are the first collaborative efforts between Activision and Viacom Consumer Products since the two
companies signed an exclusive 10-year alliance last September. All three titles are expected to ship in
fall 1999 or winter 2000.
An epic action-adventure based on Paramount Pictures’ motion picture, Star Trek Insurrection is set
one year after the end of the film. Players are a newly graduated ensign who is assigned to Captain
Picard. Following mission orders from Picard, players must discover the true secret of the planet and
thwart the Romulan threat to destroy the Federation once and for all. Equipped with a phaser, a
tricorder, a communicator and the Vulcan Nerve pinch, players solve puzzles, infiltrate enemy camps
and rescue other Starfleet members on a quest to save the Federation.
