Fox Sports Interactive Secures NBA License
Date: May 14th
"Our NBA license will enable FOX Sports Interactive to further its goal of
becoming a premier source of sports video games and build the value of the
overall FOX Sports brand," said Jon Richmond, president of FOX
Interactive.
"We are aggressively seeking league relationships because they are a vital
part of our commitment to develop the industry's leading roster of top-notch
major-league sports video games."
FOX Sports Interactive also announced that FOX Sports Net Southwest
and San Antonio Spurs announcers Greg Papa and Doc Rivers will provide
play-by-play and commentary for the title.
FOX Sports Interactive's NBA Basketball 2000 (working title) will reflect
FOX Sports' fast-paced look and attitude, according to the company.
Gamers will be able play with their favorite teams and players on the virtual
hardwood crashing the boards for rebounds, flying to the hoop for monster
jams or banging in the three-pointers from way downtown. The game will
also feature multiple difficulty levels, variable season lengths - including full
season, playoffs and finals and support for up to eight individual players.
FOX Sports Interactive's NBA Basketball 2000 is scheduled for a fall
1999 release for the PlayStation and Windows 95/98 formats.
FOX Sports Interactive announced that they have secured a licensing
agreement with the National Basketball Association for its upcoming pro
basketball title. The deal grant FOX Sports Interactive the rights to the use
of NBA trademarks, including league logos and all team names and logos,
as well as player names and likenesses.
